CHUPA design (unused) that I created for Director Jonás Cuarón. I also wanted to extend my gratitude to Guillermo del Toro for recommending me for this project. It was a pleasant surprise, and I appreciate it a lot!
In the initial script, Chupa was meant to glide through the air, however this was intended to be a surprise for the climactic scene. Therefore, the challenge was to 'hide' the wings for the first part of the film.
My solution was to incorporate folded membranes that could extend into wings for gliding flight. Inspired by the flying lizard, also known as Draco.
You can watch the film on Netflix.
